Our People
With extensive experience across a range of mining, engineering and resource industry disciplines, Aquacrete has three key operational centres. In addition to the company head office and mine site, the Aquacrete’s Eastern States team has relevant expertise in underground mining.
John Whitfield : Managing Director
John is the managing director of Whitfield Minerals, a private company which he co-founded in 1993. John has spent most of his working life in the mining industry, having commenced his career in the Goldfields region of Western Australia.
Reflecting John’s ongoing interest in mining technology and innovation, Whitfield Minerals continues to develop new ventilation control and geology consolidation solutions that address the productivity, safety, environmental and performance needs of underground mines.
Suzanne Knight : Business Manager
Suzanne joined Whitfield Minerals in 2003 as finance manager of the company. She holds formal qualifications in accounting and has had over 17 years experience in financial and company accounting, as well as business process management.
Prior to joining Whitfield Minerals, Suzanne was the Sydney-based finance manager of EMC Corporation, a leading international information technology company.
In her current role as business manager, Suzanne has been involved in the restructure of Whitfield Minerals from a service-based company to its current format. She is currently responsible for the company’s operations, finance, marketing and sales.
Greg Kay : Business Development Manager
Greg has been involved in and with the mining industry for more than 30 years and holds a range of coal mining industry qualifications.
Before joining Aquacrete, Greg held senior positions in a number of underground mines in New South Wales. In his roles as Mine Deputy, Undermanager and Production Manager, Greg gained extensive experience that he draws on in his current role as Business Development Manager for Aquacrete.
Darren Whitton : Training Specialist and Account Manager
Darren is Aquacrete’s national training specialist and account manager for mines throughout Australia. Darren has more than 15 years experience in underground mining and has gained particular expertise in ventilation control management and VCD installation. In addition to his mining industry qualifications, Darren is a certified trainer.
In his current role, Darren is responsible for training both mine employees and contractors on the design and installation of Aquacrete products.
James Chen : Project Engineer Manager
James’ experience extends to the design and development of new products and includes the development of Aquacrete’s Wet-Repel. He is responsible for the design and maintenance of the Aquacrete Process Plant. This includes monitoring and upgrading the quality control systems and mechanical functions of the plant, to ensure consistent product control and efficient operations.
Included in his management of the Process Plant, James directs the design and implementation of the Aquacrete product testing programs and the documentation of testing results in accordance with industry standards.
Brett Whitfield : Mining Operations Manager
Brett is a qualified mechanical fitter with over 12 years experience in the mining and engineering industry.
Brett commenced with Aquacrete in 1998 installing product underground in the Queensland coal mines. He now manages the production plant operations in Western Australia. Brett is responsible for the company’s mining leases, and the maintenance and modification of the production plant to ensure efficient manufacture and supply of quality Aquacrete product.
