On 26 March 2011, Aquacrete will join hundreds of millions of people across the planet in support of Earth Hour, the internationally recognized climate change awareness initiative.
Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007 and has become a worldwide event across 128 countries and over 4600 cities, with people and businesses switching off their electricity for an hour each year to pledge their support for the planet.
Aquacrete will demonstrate its support of the global ‘switch off’ by turning off non-operational lighting, equipment and plug points at its operations across Australia for Earth Hour.
This year, in addition to Earth Hour, the campaign encourages businesses to show support for environmental action by going ‘beyond the hour’ in implementing everyday procedures that reduce energy consumption and lessen the impact on the planet.
Recognising the importance of the ‘beyond the hour’ initiative, Aquacrete has taken a wider approach to reducing its environmental impact. From the installation of block-out shutters, a recycling initiative and the implementation of a solar power infrastructure at its existing head office and new head office extensions, the company hopes to demonstrate its commitment to making a difference in the fight against climate change.
Aquacrete encourages its staff, suppliers and clients to be involved in Earth Hour on Saturday 26 March 2011 by switching off all electrical power at 8:30pm for one hour. To find out how you can join in this pledge and proactively support the campaign visit http://www.earthhour.org/
